Agile Coach (New Strategic role)

Want to join a superb software product company in Dublin city centre moving into a brand new state of the art office and hiring over 200 people in the coming year? Demonstrating their ongoing commitment to AGILE practices, they now wish to appoint a new role of AGILE coach. Reporting to a Director of Software Engineering, you will empower and facilitate self-managing teams, scaling agile practices across the organisation with multiple products and across multiple development locations across the world. You will coach and mentor cross-functional teams helping them bring discipline and improvements to the agile process. You will be working closely with the Director of Engineering, engineering leads, QA and Devops… all within the Engineering organisation to help create and implement a shared vision for a truly Agile working and operating environment. This vision will be no less than becoming a beacon of Agile done right within the Irish technology community taking to heart the 4 values and 12 principles of the Agile Manifesto.  

Key responsibilities are:

Ensure team ceremonies are being facilitated either directly or indirectly with coaching
Ensure team ceremonies are being performed efficiently and effectively
Escalate and help resolve any problems teams are having with requirements, estimation, planning, execution
Ensure impediments to teams are being recognised early and are being removed
Work with the product owners to ensure there is an accurate groomed backlog for upcoming releases
Ensure teams have a shared understanding and sense of mission with respect to what they are signing up for on a sprint to sprint and release to release basis
Ensure teams are self-reporting on their progress towards their release target including reporting on key metrics like: velocity, support overhead, bug tracking, regression tracking, and release burndown
Responsible for delivering the aggregated team self-reports to senior management
Help establish, formalise and foster communities of practice across shared disciplines
Line management responsibilities for fulltime ScrumMasters and make recommendations on team formation and makeup
Ensure each team member feel that they are part of a continuous improvement process

Sounds great to me, what do I need to get an interview here?

Well, this is a new role, so you will need to be comfortable going into what you could call a Start-Up environment and start from the beginning. You will bring 2+ years previous experience working as an Agile Coach as opposed to a SCRUM Master and have previous experience in leading and mentoring more junior ScrumMasters. You yourself will be a certified ScrumMaster and have over 10 years previous experience working in the software industry in a technically orientated role (such as developer, tester, support) or facilitation role (ScrumMaster). You will bring to the organisation experience delivering software in multiple formal agile software development methods (Kanban, Scrum, XP) and have a deep interest in technology and accustomed to dealing with low-level technical information. You will be known for your ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority and have superb team-work skills. Of course, for this role, you must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal and a positive attitude when faced with challenges and a collaborative approach to finding solutions. You will have the confidence to challenge decisions when needed and have a natural curiosity and a desire to continuously improve and innovate, and a willingness to make decisions and work with others to put them into effect. Of course, you will be a JIRA Wizard.

€80-85K salary and bonus, benefits including pension and health insurance paid for.
