Python Software Engineer (Remote work, security and Dark Web)

Are you a python engineer? Thought about working remotely and enjoying life outside of the hustle and bustle of city/office based work? We have a unique opportunity with a well funded US software Company who employ over 150 people globally.

This company are currently setting up a team of remote engineers based here in Ireland. Who will work to combat terrorism and internet fraud globally. The company’s sophisticated technology and human-powered analysis enable enterprises and public sector organizations globally to bolster cybersecurity, confront fraud, detect insider threats, enhance physical security, assess M&A opportunities, and address vendor risk and supply chain integrity.

In this role you bridge the gap between building modular, efficient systems, primarily within cloud-based environments, and working directly with a team of analysts to help automate and collect relevant data from publicly available internet sources and the Dark Web.

So far so good, what will I really be doing?

  • Develop systems to handle new, varied data models, while maintaining sensible code abstractions and improve efficiency and scalability
  • Work with a team of analysts to identify trends from the cybersecurity threat landscape and explore them
  • Research new technologies and develop innovative approaches to the data challenges faced
  • Evaluate the fluidity, priority, and trends in internet technologies and protocols, and understand their data models

That’s really exciting, what do I need to be considered?

  • 2+ years Python development experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are particularly important, given the remote nature of these roles
  • Comfort with online communities, the deep/dark web and social media channels
  • Ability to write defensive code which can handle malformed mark-up, slow networks and edge cases

Nice to have?

Understanding of Layer 7 and the browser application as it relates to web servers, typically learned through front-end and API experience
A passion for staying up-to-date on current events, particularly for reporting about cybersecurity, federal law enforcement cases, national security, gaming community tech, and social networking

Ok, great!! What’s in it for me?

Aside from working on the forefront of global cyber security, you will have the ability to work from the comfort of your own home/favourite coffee shop. There is an excellent package on offer which will be dependent on experience.
