Are you a lead software engineer with experience using Python? Thought about working remotely and enjoying life outside of the hustle and bustle of city/office based work? We have a unique opportunity with a well funded US software Company who employ over 150 people globally.

This company are currently setting up a team of remote engineers based here in Ireland. Who will work to combat terrorism and internet fraud globally. The company’s sophisticated technology and human-powered analysis enable enterprises and public sector organizations globally to bolster cybersecurity, confront fraud, detect insider threats, enhance physical security, assess M&A opportunities, and address vendor risk and supply chain integrity.

In this role you will be leading a team who bridge the gap between building modular, efficient systems, primarily within cloud-based environments, and working directly with a team of analysts to help automate and collect relevant data from publicly available internet sources and the Dark Web.  

So far so good, what will I really be doing?

  • Help build and lead a team of remote working engineers – reporting directly into the VP of software in the US
  • Develop systems to handle new, varied data models, while maintaining sensible code abstractions and improve efficiency and scalability
  • Work with a team of analysts to identify trends from the cybersecurity threat landscape and explore them
  • Research new technologies and develop innovative approaches to the data challenges faced
  • Evaluate the fluidity, priority, and trends in internet technologies and protocols, and understand their data models  

That’s really exciting, what do I need to be considered?

  • 8+ years delivering quality code in a SaaS environment
  • The ability to lead and mentor a team who will be working remotely
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are particularly important, given the remote nature of these roles
  • Experience using python in a professional environment
  • Comfort with online communities, the deep/dark web and social media channels
  • Ability to write defensive code which can handle malformed mark-up, slow networks and edge cases

Nice to have?

Understanding of Layer 7 and the browser application as it relates to web servers, typically learned through front-end and API experience
Experience in Big Data
A passion for staying up-to-date on current events, particularly for reporting about cybersecurity, federal law enforcement cases, national security, gaming community tech, and social networking
