Commercial Operations Manager – Retail Shopping Centre

What’s the opportunity?

Develop customer journey and revenue streams of one of the most significant and established shopping centre developments of the last 30 years in Dublin and Ireland. Drive footfall; encourage people to come, to take time and to spend in the shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. This is a destination in the community but should be a destination for the whole county. Your brief widens to a community-focus; partnerships and sponsorships. And your varied remit includes event-planning and activation, the loyalty programme and incentives, branding and social media. All of this at a pivotal time of growth and development, current and upcoming.

What’s involved day-to-day?

  • Employ your retail sector expertise to ensure effective channels of customer communication, including receiving their feedback, through social media, online, newsletters and collateral, advertising and loyalty schemes
  • At a major destination, you are integral to the success of its brands, branding, position as community bedrock and growth through commercial revenue generation. You will begin by reviewing early stage ‘quick wins’ such as planning the Christmas / Back to School campaigns
  • Fascinating here is the breadth of responsibility across events, partnerships, sponsorships, corporate marketing, expansion. The role is non-prescriptive – you must get to understand the shopping centre’s tenants and brands, nuances and geography and community status
  • Schedule appointments to meet stakeholders and conduct research into potential and new ones (car dealerships, HO marketing teams of existing brands/tenants, schools, clubs, etc.). Fundamental to success is creatively leveraging relationships.
  • Bring your sense for aesthetics to review and enhance the ambience

What should my CV look like to be considered for an interview?

  • Significant experience from the retail sector and/or related in tourism and entertainment; ideally, you’ve worked in a marketing/events/commercial role with a shopping centre.
  • Display leadership, influencing and relationship building skills
  • Prove capability to work autonomously. You won’t be told what to do or when so you must have the organisation and planning skills to manage your own diary and objectives.
  • You should have managed budgets; your marketing budget comprises revenues generated through events, sponsorships and commercial ventures, so be adept at controlling financials.
  • We need an energetic, passionate, ideas generator who can come to work in a large environment, grasp the opportunities and challenges and take the reins.

A rewarding role on a small but powerful, well-oiled machine. Salary is circa €60,000 to €65,000 depending on experience.
