Software R&D Development Manager (multinational)
Want to work for a truly Global multinational HQ’d in Dublin working with all kinds of companies from NATO to NHS? This is a great company with a super multinational culture, culturally diverse and really interesting work., when you are working as the development manager in innovations you will drive innovation initiatives and develop new products, new lines of business or introduce new technologies and digitalization into the global business model. Leading the Rapid Prototyping processes with the Innovation team (5 people across project management and development (this is growing) you and your team will respond to business requests and produce POC’s and prototypes to meet deadlines and deliver value to the business as well as their partner ecosystem and sometimes, end clients – so great variety in terms of the work. You will also help build your team of other experts (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Information Security etc) to work on innovations spread across Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, blockchain, IOT and more. You and your team will be in charge of leading the inception, development and IT delivery of key IT Innovation areas, driving and developing the IT Innovation across the business, being the IT counterpart for all business / operations innovation initiatives, as well as helping test new business / operations ideas by designing and producing working prototypes or proof of concepts in short periods of time. This role will be hands-on from a technical point of view as well as having overall IT delivery responsibility for all innovation projects, working closely with senior management as well as internal marketing, demand management, and operational teams and external vendors – experience working in a multinational environment and cross-functionally will be important. You will be the type of person who can envisage, advise and create solutions (from both a business and technical point of view) which match the needs of the business as well as being passionate about identifying new technologies, architectures and/or products which technically deliver the solution.
Super – what do I need to have to get in front of the client?
Well, it’s a leadership role so you will need at least 10+ years’ experience in high tech and more than 6 years in software development lead/management working with a multi-national /regional/global business, orchestrating solutions while working cross-functionally. You will bring to the table at least 2 years in innovations / R&D experience to the table and be comfortable, nay, excited about turning around POC’s and pieces of work quickly – (you will be a starter over being a finisher). You will have the magical mix of both business and technical solution design experience (experience an ability in programming with a major language outside of .NET is required i.e. Python or Java) with the ability to deal with technical communities as well as VP stakeholders and turning these requirements into prototypes or proof of concepts. You will be passionate about RAD / Agile / KANBAN - iterative methodologies backed up with a degree in Technology / Engineering, which is a requirement for this organization. You will also have the flexibility to travel (short up but up to 30%) and the appropriate work permits to work in Ireland & travel across Europe. People management and team leadership will be a core competency of yours to bring to the table also.
