Sales & Account Manager – Field Based

Standout, industry leader with excellent reputation within the food industry is hiring within a really well performing territory - Connaught!

This is a B2B Sales & Account Manager position, which will require capability from you in both new business acquisition along with the ability to manage your relationships and contacts on a more long-term remit. This is not just food – your (extensive) product portfolio promotes the ethos of the organisation which is all around quality & sustainability. This team are constantly immersed with their market - delivering top quality ingredients which are sourced from Ireland an abroad from unique, artisan suppliers to enable modern, progressive cooking and food production for an impressive list of eateries and select retailers.

As a member of the sales team, you’ll have responsibility within a field based capacity for engaging directly with your market. Your clients will expect an appreciation of the hospitality and food sector, a respect and interest in food production and catering, along with the commercial, sales & account management skills which position you as a consultant and reliable support to their business.

Be prepared for sales metrics and expectations on deliveries, an extended supportive team driving their own territories, access to an existing client portfolio along with high territory potential to expand this. You’ll also work with some of the best establishments in Ireland, work alongside hard working, committed industry suppliers, learn and educate yourself on the fascinating world of food production and the constant rise of sustainable produce and the challenges, and benefits, that this presents.

For this to be for you:

  • You will absolutely need evidence of at least 2+ sales or commercial experience. Potentially, you could have run your own business but ideally having experience in formal new business development will be ideal.
  • A definite appreciation and commitment to the food industry. Your clients will be chefs, restaurant owners, specialist retailers – you need to understand, empathise and be enthused by what they’re doing.
  • Hospitality – the primary focus here is on both the commercial commitment and industry respect from hospitality professionals. Your background should be able to demonstrate both a commitment and understanding of this. This could be potentially a very well matched move for someone coming from a restaurant / front of house background in a reputable establishment.
  • Discipline – managing your forecasting, call backs, prospects, pipeline, targets and reporting are all part of a well-managed territory. You’re not going to turn into an administrator (!), but you will need to be able exercise commercial control on your patch.
  • Communication – this industry is full of wonderful stories, brands, opportunities and you’ll be a pivotal point within it. Be prepared for attending industry events, some marketing activity and essentially always being an “ambassador” for yourself, your clients and your business.

A little more – Naturally, it’s imperative that you have a full driving licence. The territory is Connaught, (Galway / Mayo / Leitrim) so residing and having a network here is important.  If this sounds like it could be for you, I’d love to consult with you and see if the move is right. Salary wise this is approx. €35K approx along with bonus, company car, phone, laptop etc. Immediately available.
