Technical Project Manager (R&D / Innovations)

Want to work for a truly Global multinational HQ’d in Dublin working with all kinds of companies from NATO to NHS – in this role you will be part of a small niche team in solutions design for the global business.  Reporting to a software development innovations manager, this role requires you to drive innovation projects within a global setting in the development of technology solutions to support new products and new lines of business. The team introduce new technologies and digitalization into the global business model and work on rapid prototyping and turning out POC’s. working within a core team of 5 and another innovation project manager, you will work on multiple projects simultaneously that turn around quickly, so the ability to work on small projects and meeting deadlines is key. There is a focus on Artificial intelligence / Machine learning as well as other new technology solutions that add value to the global firm, their partner ecosystem as well as some end clients. You will work with other experts (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Information Security, and in-house IT shared service teams). You will be the product owner (AGILE) of these innovation areas and drive, as needed, required proof of concepts or prototypes (through the RPT), perform assessments of vendor solutions, and allow for the implementation of solutions that both answers short time-to-market needs yet being reusable at global scale.

Key Responsibilities 

Create and maintain project plans for the IT Innovation team

Work on functional requirements and help research key innovative technologies and how these technologies can serve the Business (Market Management, Sales) as well as Operations (internal end-to-end process optimization)

Manage the inception, development and IT delivery of key IT Innovation areas (AGILE / SCRUM / KANBAN)

Support the IT innovation strategy together with the Business and Operations owners and help assess new ideas or product proposals especially in terms of their technical feasibility, and target architecture.

Create and animate appropriate IT Innovation communication channels within the Operations & IT global community to detect, share and scale-out local OPS-related IT Innovations

Deliver assessments of vendor solutions which could be used in the context of the IT Innovation initiatives

Envision, advise and create the design of solutions (from both a business and technical point of view) which match the needs of the business. Identify technologies, architectures and/or products which technically deliver the solution. 

Ensure solution scopes are closely controlled and managed to ensure delivery can be attained incrementally and under tight timeframes and/or budget constraints.

Closely support (inc. hands on-work) the technical design, planning and development cycles of each of the innovation project

You need to bring solid experience & key skills around project management within an innovation setting driving technology projects backed up with a degree in technology, Engineering and solid experience with AGILE and SCRUM Teams (Product owner experience would be great). You will have 5+ years in software and technical solutions delivery management while working within a multinational / global context, working with a variety of stakeholders. Your work will have involved working with new and emerging technologies (Artificial Intelligence, *Machine Learning, Data Science) and you will have experience in managing technical project teams which develop prototypes or proof of concepts and which leverage these new technologies to solve business problems. Of course, you will be known to have excellent communication skills and be well able to influence distributed stakeholders and delivery teams around different countries as well as having experience in Agile / SCRUM methodologies. As this is a role within a fast paced, multi-location, multi-culture environment you will have the flexibility to travel up to 40% short-hop.
